A dragon slayer might just become a dragon… friend?

Three-time Oscar nominee and Golden Globe winner Dean DeBlois is bringing his visionary animated franchise How To Train Your Dragon to live-action! In the trailer, we’re introduced to Mason Thames as Hiccup, a young Viking who is unsure about the bitter war that has been waged for generations between Vikings and dragons. When he defies tradition to befriend the Night Fury dragon Toothless, they form an unlikely bond that will challenge everything he knows. Together, their alliance will navigate a new path towards peace as an ancient threat emerges.

Gerard Butler reprises his role as Chief Stoick the vast from the animated films, while newcomers to the cast include Nico Parker, Nick Frost, Julian Dennison, Gabriel Howell, Bronwyn James, Harry Trevaldwyn, Ruth Codd, Peter Serafinowicz, and Murray McArthur.

How To Train Your Dragon hits theaters on June 13.
