Breakups? A.I.? Self-discovery? Drew Hancock’s directorial debut Companion is the romance thriller for you! 

The trailer shows lovebirds Iris (Sophie Thatcher) and Josh (Jack Quaid) meeting at a grocery store. As Iris narrates that as the happiest time of her life, she also states killing him brought her the same pleasure.

However, Josh figures out she’s a robot and jailbreaks her settings, leading to a very bloody situation as the two have a weekend getaway. Eager to regain control of her artificial life, Iris raises her intelligence setting and the two face each other head-on to fight for what they want. Lukas Gage, Megan Suri, Harvey Guillen, and Rupert Friend round out the cast.  

Companion hits theaters on January 31.
